Where does flake ship from?

Every order leaves from Spokane Valley, Washington. The street address is not public yet. Pre-orders are submitted on the pre-order page, and questions go by email to adam@prosurfacesupplyusa.com.

How is freight priced?

Freight is quoted per order when Adam confirms it. This site does not publish freight rates, carriers or transit times, and the $85 box price is before freight.

To compare costs, add the freight quote to the box price. Ten boxes, for example, are $850 of flake plus the freight Adam quotes to your ZIP. Set that total next to what you pay your current supplier, freight included. Ask Adam for the expected delivery window with the freight quote.

What checkout asks for

Freight is quoted from the details you enter at checkout, so a complete pre-order gets an accurate quote in one reply.

  • Blends and box counts. These set the weight. Each box is 44 lb, so 10 boxes is 440 lb of flake.
  • Ship-to address. Freight is quoted to a destination.
  • Business name (optional). Who the shipment is addressed to.
  • Phone number. So Adam can reach you about the order and the delivery.
  • Delivery notes. Tick residential, liftgate or job site at checkout, and add gate codes, receiving hours and an on-site contact in the notes.

Receiving your boxes

  • Count the boxes against Adam's confirmation before the driver leaves.
  • Look for crushed, wet or torn cartons and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
  • Email Adam the same day if anything is short or damaged, with photos.
  • Check the blends against your order before you load a truck for a job.

Storing flake until the job

Published manufacturer guidance for decorative flake comes down to a few rules. Moisture, freezing and rough handling are the things to avoid.

  • Keep it sealed and dry. Leave boxes closed until the job, store them indoors, and keep them away from moisture and humidity.
  • Keep it at room temperature. Simiron's decorative chip data sheet calls for 60 to 85 F, humidity below 65% and no freezing.
  • Use it within a year. The same data sheet gives a 12 month shelf life from the date of manufacture, in the original unopened container. Rotate older boxes onto the next job first.
  • Do not throw the boxes. Rust-Oleum's vinyl chip data sheet warns that rough handling breaks chips into small particles that change the look of the finished floor.
  • Use a pail at the job. The same sheet transfers chips to a clean 5 gallon pail, breaks up clumps by hand and leaves the fines at the bottom of the box.

If a job takes more than one box, mix all of the boxes together before you broadcast so the color stays even. The flake guide covers broadcasting, and the flake calculator tells you how many boxes to order.

Questions contractors ask

Can I pick up an order in Spokane Valley?

Not that we can promise yet. The street address is not public and no pickup option is published. If picking up in Spokane Valley would suit you, say so in the notes when you submit your pre-order, and Adam will tell you what is possible.

Can you deliver flake to a job site?

Tick Job site delivery at checkout and put the job site address and an on-site contact in the notes, along with any limits such as no loading dock or a narrow access road. Adam's freight quote is based on that address, so ask him to confirm the delivery details with the quote.

Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii or outside the United States?

Orders ship to anywhere in the U.S. For Alaska, Hawaii or a U.S. territory, email Adam the ship-to ZIP first so the freight quote reflects it. For an address outside the U.S., ask Adam before you order.

What should I do if a box arrives damaged or short?

Count the boxes against Adam's confirmation and look for crushed or torn cartons before the driver leaves, and note any damage on the delivery receipt. Then email Adam the same day with photos and the box count you received.

Can flake sit in a cold truck or an unheated shop?

Avoid it where you can. One flake maker's data sheet calls for indoor storage at 60 to 85 F with humidity below 65%, and says not to let the product freeze. Bring boxes inside, keep them sealed, and open them at the job.
